Experiencing change

Experiencing change

Change is inevitable; it's baked into every facet of life. But how do we make sense of and transition through change in our personal and social lives? And why is it sometimes psychologically hard to experience change?

We often come across change events in our lives, that call into question the meanings we take for granted and disrupt ’life’ as we know it.

Those changes could be on a personal level, such as moving homes or losing a friend, or they could be on a societal level, such as experiencing a pandemic.

This talk will explore how we experience change in everyday life.  Using Sociocultural Psychology, we will elaborate on how those changes affect our rhythms of living and how, through different resources, we can make sense of them and move forward through those changes.

But moving forward does not always mean accepting and adapting to change. It could also mean resisting some changes and questioning their value for our society and for our well-being.

This presentation will be conducted in English.
