Sound: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Sound: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Sound is everywhere around us. There are sounds we wouldn’t want to be without and there are sounds we would wish could disappear. What is sound, how are we affected by it, and what use does it have in our society?

Sound can be a source of great joy but also a big nuisance or even illness.

In this audio-only talk, I cover sound in our everyday life. How do we use our hearing to communicate and when does sound become noise?

I use many different sound examples to interact with the audience and get discussions started.

My goal is to get more people to think about sound and noise in our daily life and to consider the meaning and usefulness of it. My research is about wind turbine noise, and will also be covered in the lecture, adapted to the age group.
