Trump, AOC, Mamdani, and Vance: Politics, Culture Wars, and America's Future
The landscape of American politics is highly complex, and its directions have consequences for Denmark, Europe, and nations around the world.
For every conservative figure like Donald Trump or J.D. Vance, there are voices on the left such as the newly elected mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent progressive congresswoman. And in between are the many Americans who have switched between voting for Democrats and Republicans.
Underneath this is America’s diverse culture shaped by many different backgrounds and beliefs, differences in ethnicity, religion, social class and political values.
The U.S. has two and a half years left under the second Trump Administration, and what happens after 2028 is highly unclear. The first Trump-era elections in November 2025 went the Democrats’ way, and the mid-term election in the fall of 2026 will be an important moment.
What could come next in this divided political climate? And what might the consequences be for democracy and fundamental rights worldwide?
