Why and how is mental health research more challenging? A focus on cognitive biases

Postdoc Islam Galal Moustafa Faress will start a discussion that explores the impact of cognitive biases on mental health research, illustrating how these biases can lead to errors in judgment and affect findings.

He says: 'Despite challenges, the scientific method's self-correcting nature helps address inaccuracies. We'll examine case studies on psychiatric medication development to understand mental health research's complexities, highlighting the differences from physical health research.

As a clinical pharmacist and neuroscientist, I aim to discuss these issues and invite audience participation for a richer understanding. Together, we'll discuss challenges and innovative solutions in mental health research and practice, fostering a collaborative exploration of new paths forward.'

Islam Galal Moustafa Faress er postdoc på The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE) ved Institut for Biomedicin på Aarhus Universitet.
