The emerging solution to antibiotic resistance

The emerging solution to antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance is still a major health concern, and researchers are discovering novel strategies to combat this. In this talk, I will discuss a promising solution, antimicrobial peptides, and how to discover them.

This lecture will delve into antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), an alternative to conventional antibiotics. In this talk, I will go through the discovery and development of AMPs as a next-generation drug design.

In the research, antimicrobial peptoids are developed by studying how the peptoids’ structure affects interactions with bacterial cells, membranes and adaptive stress responses. By using clinically relevant Gram-negative pathogens, especially Pseudomnas aeruginosa, the research analyzes protein responses to understand antimicrobial activity, tolerance, and resistance.

By understanding what makes these materials effective, we can design better antimicrobial agents.
