How Cells Split Their DNA: The Science of Fair Division
In this lecture you will learn that cell division fuels growth, repairs damage and keeps our bodies healthy by constantly renewing cells. Inside each cell, genetic material has the instructions that control how the cell works, which in turn shapes how our bodies grow, develop, and function.
When cells divide, they face the crucial task of distributing this information evenly to ensure both daughter cells function properly. Mistakes in this process can produce cells with unbalanced genetic material, which may cause developmental problems and contribute to cancer. Together we’ll explore that to prevent this the cells have developed mechanisms to keep everything in order and how we’re working to crack the secrets behind these essential processes.
