How Do Humans Begin? Exploring the Science and Limits of Early Development Research

In this talk, I explore the first five days of human development, the techniques scientists use to study these earliest stages, and the ethical limits that shape what we can and cannot investigate.

How does a human life begin? In this talk, we’ll dive into the remarkable first five days after fertilization—when a single cell starts its journey toward becoming a complete organism.

I’ll introduce the cutting‑edge techniques researchers use to study these earliest stages, from imaging tiny cellular changes to growing embryo‑like models in the lab. Along the way, we’ll explore the ethical boundaries that guide this work: what scientists are allowed to do, what remains off‑limits, and why these limits matter.

Join me for a clear and engaging tour of one of biology’s most fascinating frontiers!
