How to be a better luddite: living in a world with generative AI

In this talk, I will present a practical approach to living critically in the era of generative AI. This technology is already shaping how we work, learn, and create. I will explain what it does to us, what possibilities it offers, and what dangers it poses. When and how should we resist using it, and when is it better to embrace it?

The Luddites were early 19th-century English workers often remembered as machine-breakers. In reality, they were not opposed to technology itself, but concerned about its uncontrolled use and its effects on people and society. Their story raises an important question for us today: how can we live critically in the age of generative AI?

Using the Luddites as a starting point, this talk explores the opportunities and risks of AI and offers practical principles for navigating this technology. I will share ideas on when it is appropriate to challenge AI critically, inspired by the Luddites, and when it is better to accept and use it.

In the end of my lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your thoughts about Generative AI.
